FEATURED PIECE:
Touching Eternity
24" diameter, mixed media

Life is surely a spiral rather than a circle. This piece honors the repetitive rhythm of life and the cyclical nature of our evolution, while recognizing that our beings are eternally involved in the flux of change. The river rock used here, while symbolizing movement as well as inactivity, also signals the potentiality and fluidity of our beings. The two ammonite fossils, themselves spirals, hint that this fluidity has no beginning and no end. In addition, I have used negative space that is out of the boundaries of the round board to acknowledge our capacity to create what we wish and develop how we wish, in our own distinctive ways. Ultimately, as with a number of my constructs, this piece is dusted with sacred soil which I personally harvested from El Santuario de Chimayo in New Mexico. Finally, a slight hint of glitter tops it all off and reminds us of our divine nature.
